Italcementi Group

The Italcementi research department joins with the €100,000 home
The ecosustainable home with zero emissions

As part of its i.nova. building community innovation and research project, Italcementi has put all its technological resources and scientific know-how at the disposal of the "A €100,000 home" project designed by Mario Cucinella.
The Italcementi Research and Innovation Centre experts are currently working closely together with the architectural studio to perfect a series of revolutionary construction elements.

These research experts are developing a new form of concrete that has the same standards of strength and durability as traditional concretes, but also offers extremely low U values, thanks to the addition of aggregates from inorganic recycled waste. The end result is a high performance material that will improve insulation and help keep homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. This new concrete is already at an advanced stage and is currently being perfected in terms of its mechanical, thermo-physical and laying properties. The material will be definitively completed and ready for use by the end of 2008.
